Developing and implementing an enterprise platform as a medium for subject matter experts and road infrastructure managers to guide, interact and continuously improve, enables ongoing tracking of KPIs and effective management of change across an organisation. In this discussion, Christine will explore the direction Transurban is taking to embed the Transurban Asset Management System to achieve consistent practices across all regions, setting Transurban up for the future of transport infrastructure.

1:40 pm - 2:20 pm Case Study: The Gravel Road – Gwydir Shire Council’s Plan to Maintain Road Asset Life Cycle
As a rural council, Gwydir Shire Council maintains over 2000km of sealed and unsealed roads. Within 10 years, the council also looks to provide transport services including three new bridges and five new box culverts. But with the heavy agribusiness within the region, the council is focused on adapting their road structures to the changing nature of the business, ensuring that they uphold and facilitate the right transport needs for the community. This session will explore how a rural council is managing a ten year transport asset plan, particularly around road asset management, to not only extend its lifecycle but meet the expectations of their community.
· Developing a road condition survey to create a program that enables to resealing and rehabilitation of road assets
· Insights into the challenges with providing access to roads and facilitating transportation needs while still ensuring reliability and services to agribusiness in the region
· Understanding the importance of cost-benefit analysis to determine financial and economic benefits of materials, construction and to maintain the standards of infrastructure assets

As asset management begins to broaden to encapsulate both engineering and strategy, it is important to ensure you have the right staff on board with the right skills to be engaged with your framework. This session will look at closing the gaps to better manage your organisation’s future asset plans.

· Marrying the ideas of technical experts and consultants with the business – how to ensure skills and knowledge are aligned to ultimately meet business objectives in managing assets

4:10 pm - 4:50 pm International Case Study: Lessons Learned in Achieving ISO 55000 at London Underground
The London Underground has been an integral part of Transport for London’s network for 150 years, and became the first rail authority in Europe to achieve the international standard. In harnessing the standard, not only has the organisation achieved better resourcing and maintenance for the renewing of assets, but has achieved a 40% improvement in reliability. Through this international case study, Richard will draw on the lessons learned from the London Underground to discuss how to develop a better understanding of the standards to meet passenger demand, service reliability and extended asset life cycle.
